Hello!! My name is Elyse. I am a Christian and the mama to an awesome 4 year-old daughter. I have always known that I wanted to help people, and with that in mind I began pursuing a degree in Human Services. While in school, I simultaneously became more interested in the holistic and natural lifestyle. I wanted to research everything, especially when it came to the health of my daughter and I. It was through this research and passion that I felt called to be a doula.
Qualifications:
I am trained through DONA International as a birth doula, and through CAPPA as a postpartum doula. I am in the process of certification as a Breastfeeding Educator through Birth Arts International. I have completed a nutrition program focusing on fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum wellness through Chris Kresser, M.S., L.Ac. I am also trained in the HypnoBabies method of childbirth, and the Happiest Baby on the Block method of infant soothing.
I am passionate about continuing education and have attended lectures on VBAC, infant sleep, acupressure, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum as it relates to sexual abuse survivors, postpartum depression, rebozo techniques for labor, herbs for pregnancy, birth, & postpartum, and advanced breastfeeding.
Birth Philosophy:
I know that every mother will remember the birth of her babies, whether they are 6 months old or 60 years old. For this reason, it is my purpose and goal to make your birth experience as rewarding, calm, and positive as possible. Birth does not have to be the horrible, fearful event the media portrays it as. It is a normal function of the amazing female body, not an illness. With preparation and trust, it can be a peaceful, stress-free, and fulfilling experience! I can help you release fears about birth and show you ways of coping so that you can empower yourself and have the experience YOU desire.
I believe wholeheartedly in informed consent. I want each and every mama to be well educated on her choices, options, and rights as a patient. With that informed consent, I will honor and respect any decision that you make. I am here to support you no matter how you choose to birth!
My Faith:
I am, as mentioned above, a Christian who believes that God is a loving God and that each and every child is a gift from Him. I believe that God wants birth to be a beautiful, transformative experience, not a fearful and traumatic one. I believe His heart for birthing women is to give birth safely, in love and peace. I also believe this His purpose for making me a doula is to help women achieve this through education and trust in Him and their bodies that He created. He made YOUR body perfectly able to give birth!!
Parenting Philosophy:
I believe that parents have excellent instincts when it comes to taking care of their babies. I love to help mommies and daddies explore their options and figure out what is best for them and their family. My personal parenting journey includes extended breastfeeding, attachment parenting, co-sleeping, organic foods, and alternative remedies for illnesses. That said, I will never judge another parent for making different choices than myself! I believe that children are precious treasures and I base much of my parenting style on instinct as well as the science behind child development. I have co-founded a local and facebook group called Mothering with Intention (not just for moms!) to explore all areas of parenting and a holistic lifestyle.
Some of my other interests include: learning and reading as much as possible, nutrition, holistic health, breastfeeding, living simply, herbalism, homeopathy, reflexology, massage, organic food/farming, and a small chocolate obsession.
I absolutely love being a doula and am honored to serve each and every family in their birth and postpartum times.

This little lady changed my life forever when she took up residence in my womb in 2007. She is my heart outside my body and the best gift God has ever blessed me with.
